Bhenda Saglen

This is basically roasted Okra/Ladies finger in a traditional konkani gravy made of onion,ginger and scraped coconut.This dish gives Okra a new touch and flavour.

10-20 Ladies fingers/Okra washed and cut into 2 inch pieces,
2 finely chopped onions,
half inch of Ginger very finely chopped.
1 cup of scraped coconut,
half teaspoon tamarind paste,
2-3 Byadgi red chillies,
3 teaspoon of oil,
Salt to taste,
  • Heat two teaspoon of oil in a pan , add chopped onions  and ginger, fry them till golden brown. Add red chillies and scraped coconut to this and fry for 2 more minutes.Let it cool.
  • Empty the contents into a mixer ,add tamarind paste and Salt to taste .Grind it till you get a fine paste.
  • Fry ladies fingers/Okra in a frying pan, drizzel 1 teaspoon of oil and a pinch of Salt (which will hasten  cooking process).Fry until cooked.
  • Now add the ground masala to the fried Okras and simmer for 10 minutes.
Tasty Bhenda Saglen  is ready to serve.
