Mooga ghashi


Description
This is an authentic konkani recipe made with Green gram (Moong) and yam. Taste good with rice or chapathi. Moong is  rich in protiens and has a cooling effect on your body.


Ingredients:
  • Moong -1 Cup ,soaked overnight and then pressure  cooked(2 whistles)
  • Grated coconut- 1/2 Cup
  • Yam(Suvarna gadde ) -100 grams cut into square pieces and pressure cooked till soft.
  • Rice Flour -1 teaspoon (for thickness)
  • Curry leaves 1 strand
  • Hing(Asafoetida) a pinch
  • Mustard seeds 1 tea spn
  • Red chillies 6-7
  • Tamarind
  • Oil 1 tea spoon
  • Salt
Method:
  •  Grind together coconut, tamarind, red chillies, hing, rice flour.Grind to a fine paste .
  • Now in a vessel pour the ground paste, add the boiled Moong and Yam.
  • Add salt to taste and give it a boil for 5 to 7 mins, remove from heat.
  • Heat oil, add mustard seeds, when they splutter, add cut red chillies and  curry leaves. Add the seasoning to the dish.
  • Serve hot along with rice or chapathi.
TIP: You can also use sprouted Moong if you like . This will increase the nutrition factor of the dish.
